Vision
Let's Make Beeston Better.
Aims
To improve the reputation of Beeston by developing it as a proud, inclusive, ambitious community: a neighbourhood that is desirable to live in, prosperous to work in and supports the development of the whole community.
To make Beeston a safe, clean and sustainable place, by promoting improved housing, better air quality, reduced noise and traffic.
PRIORITIES
Using the results of the questionnaire we asked residents to complete, we have established 7 priorities.
ENVIRONMENT: Litter, fly tipping and dog fouling, street cleaning, antisocial behaviour, air quality, noise and traffic. Impact of the planning system on the environment.
COMMUNITY: Promotion of the Beeston Area. Valuing the experience and knowledge of the Beeston Community. Development of Community facilities.
RETAIL AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Independent traders, supermarkets, charity shops and takeaways. Increase employment opportunities and attract business in suitable locations.
HERITAGE: Celebrating the history of Beeston and its influence on the Beeston Plan.
HOUSING: New housing developments, regeneration of areas (infrastructure, playgrounds, landscaping etc.) rented accommodation and improvements to existing housing stock.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: Skills strategy, sporting, cultural and social activities.
INTEGRATION: Encouraging community cohesion and managing the diversity of residents, especially across the different ethnic groups.
